Conversations on Science in the Digital Future

What might the interplay between science and digitalization look like in the digital future?

Together with Elsevier, we are launching a series of panel discussions to promote open conversations about data use in the research sector. At the first event on November 22, 2022, our guests discussed about the topic of "Data Privacy in the Digital Era". For what purpose and to what limits are we using behavioral tracking, and what policy rules are needed to create transparency and foster trust? The event covered privacy, usage and user data, data sharing, and security.

The Guests:

Prof. Dr. Max von Grafenstein, professor of digital self-determination at ECDF and the Berlin University of the Arts
Dr. IJsbrand Jan Aalbersberg, Senior VP of Research Integrity at Elsevier
Prof. Dr. Wolfram Horstmann, Head of
Göttingen State and University Library and Chairman of the Academic Libraries and Information Systems Committee (AWBI)

Please find the recording of the panel discussion below or on Vimeo

Over the next few months, the series of events will delve into current and important topics to advance the debate on data use in science, such as vulnerable population and assessment data, synthetic data, artificial intelligence, and ethics in scientific publishing. The blended events will take place at ECDF in Berlin and online.
