The ECDF conducts interdisciplinary research into how networked, AI-supported healthcare systems can be designed to be patient-centered, secure, trustworthy, and fair, enabling better care while ensuring the responsible handling of sensitive health data.

More than half of the world's population lives in cities, which play a key role in socio-ecological transformation. The ECDF is researching how digitalization can contribute to the design of sustainable, resilient, and people-centered urban spaces. Urban planning, infrastructure, and governance are being examined using data-driven, participatory, and innovative approaches.
