Prof. Dr. Guillermo Gallego from Einstein Center Digital Future (ECDF) and Technische Universität Berlin has been elevated to the grade of Senior Member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) this year. IEEE is world's largest technical professional organization for the advancement of technology. The Senior Member is the highest professional grade of IEEE. It requires extensive experience. Only ten percent of the more than 400,000 members have achieved this level. "I am very proud to be elevated to the grade of Senior Member of the IEEE. It recognizes my professional accomplishments and maturity in the fields of Engineering, Computer sciences and information technology", says Guillermo Gallego. Among such accomplishments, he has contributed to develop new interdisciplinary tools to remotely sense the surface of the ocean using stereo video cameras, and more recently, he has dedicated most of his efforts to advance the state-of-the-art in event-based vision, which is a bio-inspired approach to robot vision. "I hope to keep on doing valuable/excellent research and contributions to the fields of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences, in particular, now as ECDF Professor at TU Berlin and the Science of Intelligence Excellence Cluster", says Guillermo Gallego.
