The Einstein Center Digital Future (ECDF), in partnership with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) and its flagship program on digitization in North Africa – the Digital Transformation Center Tunisia – under the direction of Prof. Dr. Anastasia Danilov and Prof. Dr. Timm Teubner held its first online symposium on October 1st, 2020 as part of a research collaboration on the platform economy and the impact of digitization on labor markets in Tunisia.
The symposium was an invitation-only event to discuss opportunities, hurdles, and the road ahead for Tunisia’s digital businesses. The attendees were the ECDF team, GIZ’s Digital Transformation Center Tunisia leaders Norman Schräpel and Christina Gossmann, and leading actors from the digital space in Tunisia, including Nader Bhouri from Le Collège des Startups, Yassir El Ismaili Idrissi from Tayara.tn, Olfa Hamza from EY Tunisia, and Khabbab Hadri from the Tunisian Ministry of Commerce.
Maik Hesse and Ines Amri, two researchers from ECDF, kicked off the event by presenting the first output of the research collaboration, a white paper examining the status quo of the Tunisian platform economy.
