Call for Participation: Bits & Bäume Conference 2022

This year, the Bits & Bäume Conference will take place in Berlin from September 30 to October 2, 2022. In addition to the Einstein Center Digital Future, 12 other institutions are involved in organizing the conference, including TU Berlin, Chaos Computer Club, ver.di, and BUND/Friends of the Earth. Together, we invite all interested parties to respond to the Call for Participation by June 21, 2022.

After the successful first Bits & Bäume conference in 2018, the topics of digitalization and sustainability are more present in our society today than ever before. We are facing major societal and global challenges for a just and sustainable shaping of our (surrounding) world.

An important goal of the conference is to connect the interested community with representatives of socio-ecologically operating small digital companies and founders in order to find concrete solutions for the pressing issues of our time. Political strategies and governance proposals will be discussed. Using best practice examples, the aim is to learn from each other how climate and environmental protection, social justice, democracy and fundamental rights can be realized in the digital age.

With the Call for Participation, we call on people from civil society organizations, progressive actors from science, business and politics to help shape the conference with their own contributions! We are looking forward to diverse and creative topics and formats. Conceivable formats include discussion panels, lightning talks, project presentations, campaign planning, (hands-on) workshops, activist info tables, installations, films, hackathons, design thinking sessions, interviews, live podcasts, small group work, cultural formats, world cafés, craft workshops, art performances, design elements, or anything else creative and innovative you can think of!
