Inhalt:

In recent years, stakeholders in the healthcare sector have increasingly advocated for a shift towards patient-oriented healthcare, where healthcare data is used, for example, to create better healthcare interventions, generate treatment innovations, and improve patient care. The European Commission aims to create the European Health Data Space (EHDS), which should enable researchers, policymakers, and innovators to use health data for defined purposes, benefiting society.

While the secondary use of healthcare data offers significant potential for value creation, realizing this potential depends not only on successfully establishing the necessary data infrastructure and services but also on identifying use cases where secondary data usage can generate the greatest value.
