Parliamentary evening: Education in a digital society

On 1 February 2024, the Alliance for Future Education - an initiative of German non-governmental organizations from the fields of education, youth, environmental protection, nature conservation, development and human rights - invites you to a parliamentary evening at the Einstein Center Digital Future from 6.30 pm. Under the motto "The world in crisis mode: How sustainable is education in a digital society?", young adults and political decision-makers will discuss the topic.

Our education system is facing major challenges. Whether it's digitalization, teacher shortages, inclusion, resilient democracy or education for sustainable development, the system is falling far short of its potential. At the same time, we are facing increasingly complex global crises at a rapid pace. The consequences of the climate crisis, wars and human rights violations do not stop at educational institutions and school gates. Children and young people feel all of these effects directly. It is also worrying that students, but also teachers, are increasingly suffering from psychological stress. In view of these challenges, a genuine turnaround in education is urgently needed.

But how can it be shaped and how can resilience be strengthened at the same time? How can sustainability, democracy and digitalization go hand in hand? In view of the acute crises, a wait-and-see approach is not an option. We need to create trust in the future, protect confidence and build bridges. This requires a decisive political change of course.

What political steps are necessary now? What course must be set by federal policy?

We want to discuss with you and young people the issues that children and young people are most concerned about. We would like to talk to you about complexities and multiple crises - but also about confidence, courage, change, creativity and freedom to shape the future.

What kind of future do we want to live in? What role does education play and what is needed for a broad impact? How do we design educational spaces at eye level, in a discrimination-sensitive and participatory way together with young people? How do we use the possibilities of digitalization? How do we strengthen our democracy together in order to live well together as a society?

The Bündnis ZukunftsBildung - an initiative of German non-governmental organizations from the fields of education, youth, environmental protection, nature conservation, development and human rights - invites you to join us:
