Forum Bits & Bäume #2

The second Bits & Bäume Forum will take place on Januar 27, 2020 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Einstein Center Digital Future. The topic will be "Ecological Digital Tax - Which political instruments will make digitalization sustainable?

Digitisation and climate protection – two hot issues that are currently the subject of much debate. The main subject of discussion is an old acquaintance: Taxes. A digital tax, so that digital corporations can contribute to the financing of public tasks. A CO2 tax or extended emissions trading to reduce climate-damaging emissions. In the second forum, Bits & Trees, the two challenges of digitalization and climate are considered together. How can taxes and other instruments in the digital economy develop an ecological steering effect? Are concepts such as the CO2 tax sufficient or do separate instruments be needed? Do we need a CO2 tax for the digital world or a tax on data traffic in addition to national instruments?
