The synthesis event of the forum "Digital Fairness and Consumer Protection" will take place on November 24, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the ECDF. The event is organized by the project “Forum on Digital Fairness and Consumer Protection”, which is dedicated to exploring how consumer protection in the digital space can be made fairer, more inclusive, and forward-looking. It is developing new approaches and ideas to achieve this goal. The goal of the event is to consolidate key insights from previous events, deepen political and societal impulses, and initiate concrete processes of change. Initial results will be made visible, and perspectives for the future will be opened.
The discussions so far have focussed on three key topics:
- Deceptive Design: How manipulative design in the digital space undermines user rights.
- Digital Advertising: What personalized advertising reveals about power dynamics and exclusion on the internet.
- Consumer Protection & Anti-Discrimination: Why fair markets are only possible in a fair society.
The synthesis event will bring these debates together, present initial findings, and outline paths for future developments.
