Sustain.ALL Transformation Hub

The Sustain.ALL Transformation Hub at Technische Universität Berlin is a newly established transdisciplinary initiative designed to accelerate sustainable transformation by bridging research, education, and real-world implementation. Developed as a Studienreformprojekt, the Hub is initiated by Bengisu Berispek, Prof. Dr. Andrea Cominola (ECDF Professor of Digital Water Systems at TU Berlin) and Michael Wilmes.

At its core, Sustain.ALL introduces an innovative challenge-based learning and research format that positions the university campus as a transformation testbed for climate-neutral and regenerative transformation. In close collaboration with key partners such as the Berlin University Alliance and the Einstein Center Digital Future, as well as innovation and knowledge transfer networks including Zukunftsorte Berlin and TU Berlin’s Center for Entrepreneurship, the Hub operates at the interface of academia, public institutions, startups, and civil society.

A central element is a newly launched module (6 ECTS, open to all Berlin University Alliance students), where interdisciplinary teams work on real-world challenges sourced directly from campus operations and governance from data-driven decision-making and circular systems to participation, infrastructure, and impact measurement.

Beyond the academic module, the Hub functions as an open and evolving platform for collaboration. Through formats such as innovation labs, workshops, hackathons, and co-creation spaces, Sustain.ALL actively engages industry partners, startups, and public institutions in developing and testing solutions together with students and researchers.

To further expand this ecosystem, Sustain.ALL runs an ongoing open call, inviting partners to contribute challenges, expertise, and collaborative projects. This flexible structure enables continuous knowledge exchange and fosters a dynamic environment where diverse perspectives translate into actionable solutions.
