The use of AI technologies is increasingly extending into key areas of political governance, ranging from public administration and environmental policy to border regimes and economic regulation. In doing so, they are not merely altering procedures; they are shifting power dynamics, lines of responsibility and the scope for political action. The event offers brief introductions to key areas of our research and provides a collaborative platform to discuss the systemic costs of algorithmic governance for democratic structures. This creates an open space for exchange with policymakers, NGO representatives, researchers and anyone interested in the future of a digital society.
