In October 2025, the Tagesspiegel chose the 100 most important heads of science in Berlin, who particularly shape the research landscape of the German capital. The ECDF is represented with two scientists.

ECDF professor Felix Biessmann (Berliner Hochschule für Technik) is a Professor of Machine Learning and Chair of the Examination Committee for Data Science. Since 2020, Felix Biessmann has been working with nursing researchers from the University of Bremen and Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin on three projects funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. These projects focus on AI in nursing, aiming to critically evaluate existing AI technologies and to further develop technical solutions for secure data sharing and the creation of new AI technologies for fall prevention in care settings.

Associated Member Janina Sundermeier (Freie Universität Berlin) is a Junior Professor of Interdisciplinary Business Administration, with a focus on Digital Entrepreneurship and Diversity. Through her research, she has highlighted how deeply gender stereotypes shape digital entrepreneurship. She wants to change the industry with her findings and is an ambassador for “Women’s Entrepreneurship”.
