Current developments in digitization from different perspectives - this is what the new event series "One Room - Four Perspectives" of the Einstein Center Digital Future (ECDF) is all about. At regular intervals, actors from science, business, politics and civil society will come together in a moderated panel. Kicking off on September 02, 2021, the panelists will discuss the impact of the Covid19 pandemic on school education and what role digitalization plays in this.

With the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in early 2020, large parts of society came to a standstill. This had a particular impact on the schooling of children, who suddenly found themselves in distance learning and home schooling. In the first issue of "One Room - Four Perspectives", we therefore want to discuss with representatives from science, business, politics and civil society the opportunities and obstacles that arose from the Corona pandemic with regard to the digitalization of school education: What impact did (digital) distance learning have on students' learning outcomes and the development of social skills? What lessons can be learned? What does the digital classroom currently look like? What are the plans for the new school year with regard to digital infrastructure and digital skills of students and teachers?

"The ECDF aims to be a pioneer in the field of digitalization, but also to provide orientation and promote exchange. The digital transformation affects all members of our society, which is why it is important to stay in conversation with each other," says Odej Kao, spokesperson for the ECDF, about the new format. To reach as many people as possible and enable exchange beyond the ECDF's borders, the event will be livestreamed.

Participating in the panel discussion will be:

  • Britta Ernst, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports of the State of Brandenburg and President of the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs
  • Frank Thalhofer, Managing Director Cornelsen Verlag and Chief Didactic Officer Cornelsen Group
  • Prof. Dr. Gesche Joost, Professor of Design Research and Member of the Board of ECDF
  • Prof. Susanne Lin-Klitzing, Federal Chairwoman of the German Philologists' Association

The event will be moderated by Katja Weber, journalist and presenter at Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (rbb) and Deutschlandfunk Nova.

Kick-off: 02 September 2021, 3 - 4.30 p.m.
