In the winter semester 2025/2026, the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin is offering a new certificate program entitled “Media Education for Teacher Training”. This forward-looking qualification has been developed under the leadership of ECDF Professor Elisabeth Mayweg, who chairs the Media Education Working Group at the Professional School of Education (PSE).

In view of the extensive digitalization of work structures and social structures, media education should be an integral part of teacher training – both for dealing with analogue and digital media. The Media Education Working Group is dedicated to promoting cross-disciplinary training on key media-related topics within the context of teacher education. The focus is on equipping (future) teachers with the skills and critical understanding necessary to navigate and integrate digital media into educational practice in a reflective and responsible manner.

The program is aimed at student teachers of all subjects and school types, as well as educators involved in teacher training who wish to deepen and expand their competencies in media education.
