The ECDF and Inria, the French research institute for computer science and automation, are entering into an official partnership to promote and further develop scientific cooperation with the Berlin-Potsdam region. "Inria Berlin" is an initiative of Inria to promote and further develop scientific cooperation with the Berlin-Potsdam region. The official kick-off event will take place at the ECDF from June 5 to 7, 2024.
Inria and the ECDF have already been cooperating for several years and Emmanuel Baccelli has been Professor for "Open and Secure IoT Ecosystem" at the Freie Universität Berlin in cooperation with Inria and the ECDF since September 2019. Emmanuel Baccelli and several other Inria researchers are very well established in Berlin and active in various research areas at different academic institutions in the city. Inria Berlin's activities extend to research areas such as the Internet of Things (IoT), cybersecurity, digital humanities, applied mathematics and open science infrastructures, and other disciplines. "With the official partnership, Inria Berlin aims to further intensify scientific exchange and initiate new joint research projects in the broad field of digitization research in the Berlin-Potsdam area. We see a long-term partnership between the two institutions as a great benefit for both regions," explains Inria and ECDF professor Emmanuel Baccelli.
The official launch of the cooperation on June 5, 2024 is the occasion for a scientific workshop covering various research areas. In addition to Emmanuel Baccelli, ECDF scientists Tabea Flügge, Felix Blazer and Leonid Goubergrits as well as researchers from the University of Potsdam, ZIB, DFKI, the Marc Bloch Center, HU, TU, FU and Charité as well as researchers from Inria, including Laurent Romary, Christophe Biernacki und Stephan Grumbach, will also participate.
About Inria
Inria is the French national research institute for digital science and technology. It is all about cutting-edge research, technological innovation and entrepreneurial risk. In 220 project teams, most of which are shared with major research universities, more than 3900 researchers and engineers are breaking new ground, often in an interdisciplinary way and in collaboration with industrial partners, to tackle demanding challenges. As a technology institute, Inria supports the diversity of innovation paths: from the publication of open source software to the founding of technology start-ups (deeptech).
