Lecture series: Searching for traces

On Monday, December 13, 2021, ECDF Associate Member Prof. Dr. Meike Hopp (Technical University of Berlin) will give a speech in the context of the lecture series "Spurensuche" on the topic "We who are left behind resemble conservators of a looted museum". On the Reconstruction of Jewish Collections of the Weimar Republic

The interdisciplinary lecture series presents basic questions and methodological challenges in provenance research. The focus will be on book collections from the field of Jewish history and culture.

Spotlights will be placed on processes of cultural migration and mobility, questions of social inclusion and exclusion, and, in particular, issues of genocide and the history of destruction, torn property relations, and memory landscapes after 1945. Speakers from university research as well as from libraries and relevant collections will demonstrate the possibilities and limitations of provenance research.

The lectures take place every Monday, 6 p.m., in the lecture hall of the Bibliotheca Albertina, Beethovenstr. 6, Leipzig.
