The ECDF's two new funding formats for the period until March 2028, namely “Research Projects” and “Research Circles”, provide the framework for funding collaborative projects by ECDF members through endowment and matching funds. As part of these project formats, funding is provided for doctoral students and postdocs to realise new interdisciplinary project ideas. This workshop aims to provide a platform for initial networking and preliminary development of joint project ideas by ECDF members. The workshop is open for Professors and Associated Researchers of the ECDF.
This hands-on workshop focuses on finding synergies and collaboration opportunities for future research projects, applying tools from strategic foresight. The development of research projects forces us to look to the future: It requires an understanding of the dynamics in the research context, envisioning project aims and impacts as well as long-term planning. Strategic Foresight offers a range of tools that enable this future-oriented perspective - and, importantly, that harness the power of collaboration and diverse (research) perspectives for the development of future research projects. In this workshop, you will get a condensed overview on the field of foresights and its potential for the research context, and work hands-on with some of these tools to develop project ideas with your colleagues.
Goals of the workshop:
- insights into the field of strategic foresight (background, approaches) and its application for developing future research
- practical know-how about applying foresight approaches for the interdisciplinary, collaborative and future-oriented design of research projects
- concrete ideas for your future collaborations and research projects
