Industry Forum: AI in Practice in Administration and Municipalities

Together with our partner Forschungsforum Öffentliche Sicherheit / Future Security Lab, we are organizing a joint Industry Forum on June 24, 2025, at the ECDF entitled "AI in practice in administration and municipalities – Opportunities and Risks for Companies and the Public Sector." Representatives from industry, science and municipalities will discuss different perspectives on AI in administration. We will take a look at the opportunities it offers for administrations and the public sector as well as the challenges it poses. Participants can expect interesting keynote speeches, a panel discussion with experts from industry, politics and science, as well as the opportunity to exchange ideas and have in-depth expert discussions at different theme tables. In addition, they can experience innovative applications from the field of AI, civil security, and interdisciplinary digitalization research in the ECDF's Demo Area and the Future Security Lab.

4:00 p.m.: Welcome by Prof. Tabea Flügge (ECDF) and Prof. Jochen Schiller (FOES)

4:15 p.m.: Keynote I: Prof. Timo Kob, cybersecurity expert and strategic advisor for economic security – "Security Risks of AI" 

4:30 p.m.: Keynote II: Felix Nadolni (tbc), Senior Innovation Strategy, Bundesdruckerei GmbH – "Trustworthy AI in Public Administration / Municipalities" 

4:45 p.m.: Panel Discussion: "Intelligent Administration, Smart Cities – AI as a Bridge Between the Public Sector and Industry", featuring Karen Toppe (Bundesministerium des Innern ), Prof. Timo Kob (Cybersecurity Expert), und Prof. Felix Biessmann (ECDF/BHT)

5:30 p.m.: Theme table discussions with snacks & drinks 

7:00 p.m.: End of the event and optional tour of the Security Future Lab and the ECDF Demo Area
