Prof. Dr. Peter Hildebrand is Professor of Biophysical Computer Simulations at Leipzig University. Since 2018 he a a Visiting Professor at the Berlin Institute of Health (BIH) and associated to the Einstein Center Digital Future (ECDF). Since 2017 he is Host of BIH-Einstein Visiting Fellow Prof. Brian Kobilka (Stanford University) at the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Germany.
His fields of activity are focussed on (1) Structural dynamics of G protein coupled receptors (GPCRs), (2) Molecular dynamics simulation of helical membrane proteins and (3) Analysis, prediction and visualization of molecular complexes and their dynamics. "Via the ECDF I cooperate with Professor Kobilka on the topic in silico GPCR. We examine the dynamics of the receptors with high performance computer methods", he says.
From 2008 to 2016 he was Principal investigator at the Institute of Medical Physics und Biophysics at the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Germany. Peter Hildebrand was a gust scientist at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico, USA from 2009 to 2010. 2005 to 2007 he was a Post-doctoral fellow at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics of the Freie Universität Berlin in the Structural Bioinformatics group of PD Preißner. From 2003 to 2005 he was a Post-doctoral fellow at the Institute of Biochemistry at the Charité –Universitätsmedizin Berlin in the protein structure theory group of Prof. Frömmel.
